We decided to forgo a court house hunt today to participate in the Mayor's Ride. The cost was $10 each. Sponsored by ABATE, the proceeds went to motorcycle safety and awareness. This was, by far, the largest group ride we have participated in. I hesitate to estimate the amount of participants but think it may be in excess of 1000. Everyone met in the parking lot of KMart on S. Anthony. From there we went south on 27, west on I469, south on 1, and east on 224 into Decatur. There were many people along the route that watched and waved to us. Some drivers even pulled off to the side of the rode as we drove by (did they think it was a funeral procession?). The Adams County court house was the center of the festivities. It was quite the contrast from 2 weeks ago when we visited to photograph it. We got rained on at the start of the ride and on the way home, coming through Fort Wayne. The Street Glide kept us dry, only noticed water on the face shield of my helmet.
