The Morgan County Court House is located in Martinsville, Indiana. We arrived in Martinsville on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to find that the annual Martinsville Grand Prix was being held. The go-kart road race included a trip around the court house. Two chain link fences prevented us from getting a clean shot of the building. One thing I love about summers in Indiana is that every weekend there will be a local event underway in many communities throughout the state. We were happy to have stumbled onto this one. There were heats for different age levels and it soon became apparent that the older the driver the faster the race. The event seemed to be a local favorite as there were many spectators.
These karts flew around the corner. As a mother I was afraid for all of them. At least one of the racers was a girl. The next older age group lining up for the next heat. Racers getting the checkered flag. The flag guy was ready for anything!
Across the street from the court house is a small park called Memorial Park. It is paved with a brick walkway called "Walk of Honor".
The road course wound through the streets of downtown. The karts came very close to the hay bails, one even clipped them.
Photographing the building and its clock tower was a bit challenging due to the chain link fences but this sparse tree adds character to the image.
